Busy Friday too! Germany And France Squares

Hi Everyone!

Just popping in to show you the Squares which came in today! Thanks very much to Stefanie in Germany and also Lili 49 in France. They both sent me in Blue and White Squares and also Flower Squares for both of the Challenges! The Squares are all lovely and I would like to thank you both for making them for SIBOL.

I went outside as it was a nice afternoon and took some photos for you. Please enjoy... and have a great weekend!

Busy Thursday! Squares from Canada, Puerto Rico and UK! Thank you!

Hello Everyone!

I came back from shopping this morning to find three packages tied up in an elastic band. Mr. Postie had been very busy. I just couldn't wait to get inside the house and have a look to see where they had come from!

I was very pleased to see that Canadian Squares had finally arrived after 6 weeks. So happy to know they arrived okay and I'm sure Delphine was. I emailed her straight away. Her Squares are delightful I just love them.

The Sun was shining.....This is a lovey blue, 'ice blue' I call it... I just love the colour combination using the Burgundy.

I had a great selection of Squares too from Wanda in Puerto Rico. Wanda has very kindly sent me Squares before. It's nice to know she takes an active part in SIBOL and I am most grateful.

I'm such a lucky girl today, three lots of Squares Puerto Rico, Canada, UK.......>

Crochet3love in the UK enjoys making Squares for SIBOL and she's made some lovely ones today for the Flower Theme Challenge and also the Picture Square Challenge. (For a Children's Blanket). I have to say as you all know I am mainly concerned in making Blankets for the Elderly, but we thought between us that it might be interesting to see what Squares came in which would be suitable for a Children's Blanket. When I have made the Blanket up it would be donated to a Children's Home/Charity/Hospital. It might be great fun so we thought we'd have a go. Here's one of the Picture Squares that Crochet3love sent in today. Thanks so much.

Baa. Baa.....

Thanks to Crochet3love, Wanda and Delphine I appreciate your help very much indeed. I also want to thank everyone that is visiting 'Mrs Twins' and 'SIBOL' for their continued support.

I have put the three lots of Squares into a Slide Show I do hope you enjoy them.

My old Favourites

Hello Everyone!

I joined Flickr last year and was inspired to make a Birdcage by Creative Breathing.  Elizabeth had a white one with beautiful felt flowers on the top.  Of course when I saw it I just had to make one. But I decided to crochet my Flowers.  It took me quite a while to find a suitable Birdcage but I did find one eventually from the Garden Centre.  I just loved making the Flowers and then wiring them on to the top.

I had some beaded Birdies inside, but when I saw Lucy's birdies I thought I would have a go at crocheting some.  So the Birdies are inspired from Attic 24.  I have one stuck on the perch with a white sticky fixer and the other one hangs from the inside of the roof on a crocheted chain.  I had some odd little Flowers in the bottom of my wool box and I put these on to the bottom of the cage. I just love my Birdcage, it looks so pretty in my Conservatory.

When my Daughters were born 24 years ago, my Family bought the girls a White Stork, it had a great Flower Display. But of course Flowers don't last, and the wire over the years went all rusty.  So I bought some orange felt and some fluffy for the neck.  The body was Crocheted based on the Carnation pattern I use and then I made some little Flowers and Leaves which I wired in.

I know these are some of last years work, but they give me so......much pleasure.  Every day I walk into my Conservatory and they give me such a lot of joy. I would like to thank Daniela.H and Salma on Flickr for saying such lovely words and I thought I would just write you a little post talking about my 'favourites'.

Enjoy because i do.......

Just taking some photos with Birdcage and Carnations I made last year. I know you've seen them all before! Sorry...

Birdcage inspired by Creative Breathing / Birdies - Lucy.

It was a nice day thought a photo comin.....on!

I hope you don't mind me showing these again, have a lovely evening!

Introducing SIBOL No. 11

Hello Everyone!

I've had such a lot of beautiful Squares in during the last week. Thank you so....much!  Everyone has enjoyed them such a lot over on Flickr.  I received Flower Squares and I had great fun lying them on my grass outside in the Garden along with the Daisies.  I do hope you'll visit previous posts I wouldn't want you to miss anything. That goes for SIBOL too!

Anyway, I'm very pleased to say that I have now finished 'SIBOL No. 11'.  This is one of the 'sun' theme Blankets.  It's now actually no. 3 of the 'sun theme' ones. I have more to do for this theme.  If you don't see any of your 'sun' Squares, please do not despair, I will be using everyone.  You'll just have to hang on there if you would!

I do hope you'll pop over to Flickr and 'add note' to the Blanket if you haven't already.  Flickr has the facility where you can 'add note' to your photo.  So I'm using this facility for my Blankets when I have made one.  Everyone 'adds note' to their Square and then everyone can see who's made that certain Square.  As I have said before Flickr is such fun!!

It's time.....
'Introducing SIBOL No. 11, and thank you so much to everyone who has contributed Squares for this theme.

SIBOL No. 11 ' Please 'add note' if you see your Square!

I have now made 11 Sunshine Blankets of Love for the Elderly. These 3 are made from Squares sent in for our 'Sun Challenge'. If you don't see your Square it will be coming up very soon in the next 'Sun Blankets' there are still more to come ! :)

Thank you to everyone who has contributed Squares for this theme and please look out for the next 'sun' theme Blanket if you  haven't seen your Square.  There are a few more 'sun' theme Blankets coming up. I know yes a  lot of Squares for this theme!

Bye for now,

Friday Fun in the Garden with Spanish Flowers and Bumble Bees! UPDATED SATURDAY. 'More Flower Squares!'.

Well what a Friday!

It all started at around 8.15 am this morning.  Mr. Postie actually knocked the door today! Not the usual Postie who walks the round,  a special one.  The one that has the red van! The one that carries the parcels on his van.  I had to sign for a box.

Mr. Twin and Little Miss Twins, both of them I add,  were interested to see where the box had come from. 'Spain' I said.  OOh! It's Pilar (Pertinitaco). We read the outside of the box and had a giggle.

'The Journey of the Squares' and how they travelled across the sea in a plane, through those dreadful 'ash clouds', landed safely in the UK  and then went in a dark truck and travelled to my home here in the UK.

The Squares were from Pilar, (Flickr Pertinitaco) and wow! What lovely Squares!!  The Little Squares were very tired after their long......journey so I took them outside to play in the Sunshine. Look what I saw on the Squares!! Little Bumble Bees I thought I heard a buzzing sound...........

Now would you believe that? Bumble Bees had landed on Pertinitacos' Squares!!! Buzz! Buzz! Aren't they just so cute!

Beautiful Flowers, Thank you Pertinitaco!

They played a little outside in the Garden and rested and now I'm pleased to say they feel better after their long journey which took 6 days all the way from Spain.

Thank you so much Pilar, (Flickr Pertinitaco) such lovely Squares. You are very kind making these for the SIBOL project.

Bethel of Bethania often makes us rhymes on Flickr the other day she said........

Welcome to our Squares Family, little squares...don't be afraid... after your rough trip in the big truck...A really nice lady lives here...she has a fettish for squares...She will love you,She will straighten you out again...She will touch you, feel you, smell you,Then she will work her magic with you each & everyone of you...The nice lady... will find a very special place for you...With her magic fingers... you will find a permanent home in one of her beautiful blankets...Look at the comfort you feel in those blankets all there to Welcome you...Then everyone will say... you all look FANtasMaGoRIcal together...You will be so HAPPY... the nice lady will be so Happy too...So don't be afraid... The nice lady is a very special person... and loves you.

Well Pilar, I'm terribly sorry this Slide Show has taken so long I've been so busy today getting ready for the weekend.  I've been desperate to get the photos on Flickr for you and the Slide Shows made.  I do hope you will sit back now and enjoy your Slide Show!

Please pop over to SIBOL - my 'spin-off' blog if you haven't been already.
Have a good weekend everyone and thanks for visiting Mrs Twins today.

If you put your mouse on the individual photos you will be able to read the text.

Hugs

'Blue and White' Squares from two Countries!

Hi Everyone!

In June we have our 'Blue and White' Challenge over on SIBOL. Now if you like making Squares and have some blue and white yarn sitting around doing nothing, why not make a couple of Squares for our Sunshine Blankets.

Monday I  had some lovely Squares come in from Denise21 from France. She has very kindly sent me some Squares for the Challenge mentioned above. I'm late putting them on 'Mrs Twins' because the Slide Show site was taking a mission to load up.  I've tried this morning and it's gone through straight away! Thank fully!  Take a look at the Squares in the Slide Show because they are just lovely. Different designs, different shades of blue. All so pretty.

Thanks Denise (France) such beautiful Blue and White Squares for our Challenge to come!

You've worked terribly hard Denise for SIBOL, I really do appreciate your help, Thank you so much.

Now since putting Denises' Squares on in the Slide Show this morning I've had some more 'Blue and White' Squares come in from Jenfur43

Every Square has to meet my Birdcage! Thanks Jenfur43 great Squares!

 Her Blog - please visit.

So I have now combined the two lots of Squares.  They both have something in common.  They are both 'Blue and White' so I hope you enjoy both sets!

The colours are just amazing on both sets of Squares.  I can see a fantastic Blanket comin' on.....Thank you Jen, Thank you Denise!

Enjoy a 'double Slide Show' today!

Flower Squares arrived from Austria. (Friday) Saturday's Squares (UK)

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are having a good day! I can't believe the Weekend is arriving all ready! Let's hope it's going to be warmer the next few days.

First of all Mandy if you are reading, I haven't an email address, and I'd like to say hello can you contact me on sueatpigsty@talktalk.net if you have a minute please, thanks.

If you didn't read yesterday's post about the 'HISTORY OF SIBOL' please go back one post. There is a list of all the Ladies that have helped me. Telling you how SIBOL got started, you may be interested.

I would really like to thank Elke in Austria today.  I'm sorry I have kept you waiting for your photos to be put on here. But they  are here now. I've had trouble loading my iphone pictures on to Windows 7. I still haven't done it successfully, I am on the old lap top.  Would you believe I have two here on the Kitchen table now! This one is so slow, ....... Mr. Twin has got to suss it out tomorrow, it's just not recognising the phone.

Anyway, Elkes' Squares are simply beautiful.  She has used the Granny Square pattern and has a little Flower in the Centre, aren't they just lovely? So neat and a simple pattern, but just so effective. Your Squares are in the Slide Show now Elke, and once again I'm sorry to keep you waiting.

Elke from Austria is very kindly joining our 'Flower Square' Challenge! It ends 31st May. Her beautiful Squares arrived this morning. Thanks so much Elke!

If anyone else wants to join the Challenge.  The 'Flower Square' Challenge ends 31st May, everyone is welcome to join in the fun.  I just can't wait to make a 'Flower Square' Blanket for the Elderly. The Challenges have deadlines, but other Squares there's no deadline.  As long as I have Squares coming in I will be making Blankets.

Thank you to all that help me I really appreciate it.

SATURDAY'S POST UP-DATED!!

Just to let you know I had some really nice Squares come in this morning too! Lucky me on a Saturday!
Sally 'Chunky Hooker' sent these Granny Squares in. Each one is lovely, but look at what she's done with three of them! She's got three little Flowers on each Square. Have you seen anything like this before? Because I surely haven't. Thanks ever so much Sally for sending them for the 'Flower Square' Challenge.

Granny Squares with three tiny Little Flowers, aren't they cute? ! Thanks so much Sally for joining us.

Elke and Sally thanks very much. Here's the Slide Show with your Squares.

Facts about 'SIBOL' and a Ta - Dah! SIBOL No. 10.

Hi Everyone,

I want to introduce 'SIBOL No.10' to you all, but first I just thought I would tell you a little about 'SIBOL'.

2009 was a very special year for me. In April/May time I joined Flickr and in September I made my first blog. Kate,  The Garden Bell had just started hers and if I remember correctly she was saying to me 'Why not start one?' What would I ever write about?  Well my 'Mindless Ramblings' soon took over and so did my Crocheting.  Project after Project, Ripple after Ripple......the crocheting went on and on....... Christmas was a lovely time making those gorgeous gold Butterflies and Birdies.  But I soon came to realise that there is only so much you can crochet for either yourself, your family or your home.  'Mrs Twins' was so much fun.

I had been thinking about making Blankets for the Elderly in Memory of my Grandmother and as it was before Christmas I thought I would leave it until the New Year. This I did.  At the start of January I asked my friends in Blogland and on Flickr if they wanted to help me by donating 6" Squares.  Well I was surprised that my friends thought it was a good idea and soon after the Squares started coming in. Soon after I set up 'SIBOL' my 'spin-off blog'.  Even the name was a joint effort!

Molly was the first person to send me some Squares then
I sent myself Squares..... then

Please forgive me if I have left anyone out!

All these friends in 12 countries  Canada, Puerto Rico, USA, UK, Netherlands, Austria, Spain, France, Australia, Latvia, Gibraltar, Singapore
Have sent me Squares across the miles to help me make Blankets for the Elderly.

I have now made with your help 10 'SIBOL' Blankets. 10 x 25 Squares in each = 250.
I have just counted the Squares up as promised weeks ago. To my amazement I have 354!
So in total I have now received 'since January' 604 Squares!
Thank you all so much.
So I have enough for plenty more Blankets.

Now you might think that sounds frightening, 'what a lot of work', but it doesn't take me all that long and to be honest there isn't anything else I would rather be doing so I'm going to plod along at my own pace enjoying the ride so to speak.

I have to thank my friends in the USA, you are in the lead sending Squares in, then followed by UK. But I shall have to get the figures for that one for you. It's late for me to count them up individually.

Please do keep sending your Squares, I enjoy making the Blankets and we are having a wicked time on SIBOL. If anyone wants to 'team blog' with us you are most welcome!

So here now is 'SIBOL' No. 10, and my thanks to you all!

Ta-Dah! 'SIBOL 10!' Thanks to all who contributed Squares! xx

Squares from three countries!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a good weekend.

Today I have had three lots of Squares arrive at my home and a wacky surprise! Bethel Of Bethania Australia very kindly sent me some ..........'sunglasses!'  What a laugh I had this morning when I opened her parcel. I wondered whether to show you a picture of me wearing them. Why not, let's have a laugh I thought!
So here I am!

Well what a laugh I had this morning! Bethel sent me some Sunglasses to wear while making the 'sun' themed Blankets!

I can't believe I'm showing you all! ha.ha. what a laugh. Thanks Bethel! Now no excuse not to wear them when I'm making the 'sun' themed Blankets!

Very pleased to show you Isoldes' Squares. She lives in the Netherlands and has very kindly written on 'SIBOL' as a team blogger.  She gives details about the beautiful Squares she has made for SIBOL and I'm sure you'll agree they are lovely.

Beautiful Squares from the Netherlands. isolde2006 Thank you!

I also had Ruth send me some Squares from the UK. These are gorgeous colours and I just love them. Ruth hasn't been crocheting very long and I'm so pleased she has taken part in our SIBOL project. It's such fun when we have new friends take part.

Squares from ruth*marie (UK) Each Square so lovely.

Bethel  sent out some Squares from Australia only last week and I'm very pleased to say they arrived today they only took about a week, brilliant. They are so lovely and ideal for the 'blue and white' Challenge and also the 'Flower' Challenge. Some too for the 'sun' theme I have my eye on.  So thank you Bethel. What fun I had with your sunglasses today! :)

What a great selection from Bethel ! Gorgeous colours, gorgeous patterns. Many thanks Bethel.

I can't thank you enough for the gorgeous Squares. They will all be great for the 'Sunshine Blankets'.

Would you like to see the Squares in the Slide Show? Here we go........

Thanks for visiting me today everyone and I hope you had a laugh too!
