Do you remember our Daffodil Blankets?

Good Morning,

With Daffodils starting to flower now I thought a nice time to look back at the 9 Daffodil Blankets we made in 2013. These Daffodil Blankets were all made by Ladies of the 'SIBOL' Group and we donated them to the 9 Marie Curie Hospices throughout the UK.

Many hours went in to the making of these Blankets  and it certainly was one of the most enjoyable projects we undertook.

I have Daffodils starting to flower in the garden now and also in the house and they reminded me of  the fun we had. I thought I would like to share with you once again.

Thanks to everyone that took part.

Fluttering Butterflies!

Good afternoon,

Butterflies are used to decorate our beautiful Sunshine Blankets and if anyone would like to make any Crocheted or Knitted please feel free. It's always nice to give our Blankets out with a Butterfly attached. They definitely are talking points in the Homes.

If you would like to have a go making Crocheted Butterflies I have a great video tutorial on Netspets Blog in Australia. Here's the LINK.  The Butterflies can be made in any yarn you like and in any colour you like too.  Whatever size you like!

Let's take a look at some of the beauties we have made over the years.

Memory Lane.

Good afternoon and welcome to the 'SIBOL' Blog,

No new Shawls or Sunshine Blankets arriving today so I thought it would be nice to go down Memory Lane and have a look at the Sunshine Blankets we have made in the past. I'm going back now to 2011 when we made our 'Springtime' Sunshine Blankets. When  I first began 'SIBOL' we had
a lot of themed Blankets. The Postage unfortunately put a lot of people off in the end from sending Squares and I did actually have a lot of trouble getting them in so I decided to stop the Challenges.
Today I thought I would show you some of the Blankets that we made once again. I realise there are
lots of new Ladies visiting 'SIBOL' and it's now your chance to see what we have made for Residents in Care Homes.

In 2011 we made two Blankets with 'Spring' in mind.  Here they are.

'The Spring Challenge 'Blanket 1')

Such a lot of beautiful Spring Flowers!

Such pretty Squares.

What fun we had!

What's new on Monday?

Good evening,

I would like to thank 'Dulcatis' for her Sunshine Blanket called 'Mother's Fancy'.
This really is a beautiful piece of work.

'Dulcatis' is a member of the 'SIBOL' Group and to save her money in postage she is making the Blanket in 'SIBOLs' name and distributing it herself. I haven't got a problem with this at all and if anyone else wants to do the same please let me know. Postage is a real problem these days. I love the colours used and I know it is going to be loved.

Here's 'Mother's Fancy'.

1010 'Mothers Fancy' - Dulcatis 'RAV'.  Thank you.

Thank you so much 'Dulcatis'. It's stunning!

Now Georgina has sent in two beautiful Knitted Blankets this afternoon. They arrived by courier.

These Sunshine Blankets are a great  size and very warm indeed Georgina. Made perfectly in great colours too. Thank you so much for the Ribbon enclosed as well.

Georgina thank you for the Ribbon today!

It's very kind of you to send your parcel today. Thank you!

I would like to thank Sue W today for four beautiful Knitted and Crocheted Sunshine Blankets that she has very kindly donated to our 'SIBOL' project. Once again these Blankets will be loved by Residents in local Care Homes.

Even Mr. T. remarked how nice the borders were on these Blankets. They are all ideal for Laps and can you imagine how warm they are going to be? I am so grateful to you Sue thank you so much for making and donating  them.

999, (1,000), 1001! Well done everyone!

Good morning to you all!

Thank you so much for visiting the 'SIBOL'  Blog on this very special occasion.

Today we have received a Sunshine Blanket from Jayne in Bournemouth which is
no. 999
So  a 'Big Thank you' to her.

As you will see it is a beautifully Crocheted Blanket and I know that a Resident is going to love it.
Jayne also made two Shawls for Residents in such pretty colours.

So what's next?

SIBOL 1,000 of  course!

Thank you to everyone that has made a Square for our special
Blanket. If you haven't sent yours in please do now.
I am eager to get the Blanket made up.

What an achievement!
Thanks to everyone that has supported the 'SIBOL' project
over the years.

What started out in January 2010 as a simple project has now turned in to
something so much bigger. I orginally wanted to make half a dozen in Memory of
my Grandmother who lived to the age of 103 but  we have  now reached this
special milestone.

I'm  sure my Grandmother would be very surprised. I use to crochet her cushions in Green and White for her sofa but I have to say she never had a Blanket on her chair. I don't think  she would have liked one either if I have to be honest with you.

In  2010 I thought I would like to do some Charity work and thinking of who for wasn't hard -
the Elderly. My Grandmother lived in her own Home with her own belongings around her and with  many people  visiting her all day long.  Quite a few Residents go in to Homes with barely a change of clothes I have been told and this is why they become so attached to their very own Blankets.
They are useful for their armchairs but  I have also been told that they brighten  up their rooms too.

So please keep your blankets coming.

I have been blogging now continually  since January/Feb 2010.
It takes a lot of time to photograph items coming in and writing the posts etc.,  and I have to be honest I have had times when I think it's too much for me. So I apologise when  I have my down days!  Recently I made a few wee mistakes 'sorry'.

"I promise if the time comes when I wake up in the morning and think 'I've had enough' I will be truthful to you and tell you all and I hope you will  understand.  I know I will go out on a high knowing that we have made hundreds of Men and Women that  much happier."

I do still appreciate every thing that arrives at my Home  and I'm pleased that we can keep those lovely Royal Mail posties and couriers in work! So if you can help please do.
All information about our work is on

Let's get back to work.

We have to miss SIBOL 1,000 for a short time but we will come back to it when the Blanket is assembled.

So let us now go on to 1,001!

To start the next ones off we have a special Blanket.
It's actually a Cotton quilt from Charlotte.

When Charlotte first mailed me I had no idea it was a quilt that she had sewn herself.
I don't usually accept cotton as you know we are purely a Crocheting and Knitting Group
but as it is so beautifully made in every way I  know someone will be very pleased to receive it.

So Charlotte a massive thank  you to you for sending in your work.
It's a perfect size, a very pretty design and what a wonderful Gift for someone.
It must have taken you quite a while to make it thank you!

Isn't it gorgeous?
I love it.

Thank you Charlotte.

In closing we desperately need Butterflies and Ribbon  and if you think you can help please do!

There is a wonderful video tutorial here on
Netties Blog in Australia.

A massive thank you to Jayne and Charlotte it has been a pleasure to receive your work today! Thanks to everyone visiting our Blog and for everyone's support over the years too.
