"My Husband Said?........................................................

Hi Everyone!
Well Monday's here already, comes around quickly doesn't it?
Hope everyone's had a good weekend. We haven't had much time to ourselves once again. Our weekends these days seem to be taken up with helping everyone else. Before you know it the weekend has disappeared again. But we did manage to grab an hour or so on Saturday Evening to watch the highlight of Saturday night's TV viewing 'X Factor'. What a good show, although we don't always agree with who leaves the show that evening, we still continue to watch. Probably because there's not alot else on! For those who are not in the UK. It's a programme which tries to find that certain person who has the 'X Factor' which then launches them into a Pop singing career!

But while we watching the show, my Husband called me over to his chair. He said, 'Sue, just kneel down on the floor and look over to the sofa and look at your cushion.' This is what I did and this is what I saw!



We weren't the only ones that were tired! Poor cushion. My Crocheted cushion looks so......sleepy! ha.ha.

Well Bonfire Night has come and gone and now I suppose it'll be Christmas next.

BrendaS2 bought me a kit to do years ago, and although I did start off well things came up and I had to put it away. It's been 'away' for a fairly lengthy time. So a few days ago I decided I must do it and because I am now showing some of my sewing and crocheting on Flickr this has actually spurred me on! So thanks Flickr.

So the moral in this story is..........If you have a W.I.P. that really needs to be finished. Say to yourself......I can't wait to put it on Flickr to show my friends. That way you'll get it finished........

It's rather like the Christmas Village Tree Skirt. All the pieces had to be cut out and sewn and then afterwards sequins were added.

I'm pleased now I've finished.

'Show and Tell' Friday - Christmas Angel.

I must say how much I look forward to these Fridays. It's such an honour to be able to fly around the world visiting everyone's blogs. It's so.....interesting to be able to peep into everyones' world and see their beautiful treasures.

There was a show in the UK called 'Look Through the Keyhole' where the public were allowed to visit Celebrities homes' and guess who lived there. I do feel Blogland is much the same. We are in a way given special access to visit homes all over the world whether it's Australia or the USA or wherever and we are given the opportunity to view the most loveliest of things. Whether it's a set of antique books or maybe a beautiful dinner set. We all have things which we treasure and want to show each other.

The title of my blog is Sue's Favourite Things and in it I want to share the things which make me happy. Apart from my family who I am absolutely devoted to I love things around my home. I love keeping my home tidy,I am a fanatic cleaner and I love my piggie ornaments which are scattered everywhere. BUT most of all I love to decorate my rooms with my Crocheting and Sewing. So whether it's a vase of Crocheted flowers or a Crocheted toilet roll holder every room has some part of me in.

I also like to decorate my Lounge on special occasions. Christmas is one of them. Although I have sewn two Christmas tree skirts when my Daughters were little I do try to change as they get older. So now I have gone from the Children type things to the more 'grown' up themes. In my Lounge at Christmas now I have a white and gold theme. This brings me on to my Angel.

I made two of these Christmas Angels some years ago one each for my twin daughters. They take pride and place now on our
Christmas tree. Today I want to share them with you. I do apologise to my regular friends who visit my blog as I have already chatted about them this week. These Angels are very special to us and I hope you like them.

Here in the UK we have a magazine called 'Woman's Weekly'. Some years ago I sent off for the pattern of an Angel from www.candlehousecrafts.co.uk They design kits for other soft toys as well teddies, mice etc., They can be found on the link. They still do the kit for the Angel too, so you could have a go!



My Christmas Angels were an absolute pleasure to make. They are still as beautiful as when I first made them. The Angels are made from white cotton lawn, pale pink felt, white felt, lightweight interfacing, ribbons, stuffing, tapestry wool, pipe cleaners and sequins.

The Angels hang on our tree every year, and I also made a Valentine Kisses doll out of red material for Valentines Day by adapting the pattern and also A Friendship Fairy I made for BrendaS2 one year to celebrate our friendship.

Aren't they gorgeous? I do hope you have enjoyed looking at my Angels. I'm sorry it's not an ornament or dinner set but the things I have made over the years mean such a lot to me and are really a reminder of a time in our lives.



I also made another Bird Garland years ago. This was from a pattern I bought at the National Exhibition Centre Sewing show one year.

'Birdies and Bows'.

Hi Everyone!
Middle of the week Wednesday.

I'm off to the hairdressers this morning so I'm typing this the night before so I can post in the morning before I go.I shall be in there nearly three hours having a perm.I do hate sitting around all that time but it's only every three months. It gives me a break from the computer and.......? You all know what this is?

Talking of ? I've been making a 'Birdie Garland'. It was easy to do just those adorable Birdies a bit of stuffing,a few buttons and some yarn. What could be so simple? Oh! I forgot just a bit of ribbon I had spare. The ropey bit was just three colours of wool chained and threaded through the hole in the middle of the body. I thought the ribbon finished it off.



I've been carrying it around trying to get the best shot. The light has been pretty tricky even with the flash on.




Out into the Garden too.



Karin, www.karinaandehaak.blogspot.com has offered a home for the Birdies if they want to fly over to the Netherlands, she has the most beautiful Birdie House in her Garden. Thank you Karin! Let's see how long they want to stop in the UK for! They might want a change of scenery you never know.

These Birdies are still ever so popular and are still flying all around the world. Perhaps they will meet up one day!

Birdies fly home!

Hi Everyone!

Well how are you all? Good Halloween? We only had the door bell ring twice this year so I thought it was pretty quiet. The children in our road are older now and I don't think it's been so popular this year. We are already hearing the fireworks going off early, people are setting them off before November 5th as usual. Last year some stupid kid threw a firework into my porch and burnt the walls and ceiling in my porch not to mention my carpet. If I had opened the front door just a few seconds earlier I would have had a firework in my face. Luckily it was only the house that got burnt. We had to ring the Police and Fire Brigade both services were very good and they said that they had been very busy that evening with similar calls. Kids! Nothing better else to do.

It was a nice day in the UK Saturday but yesterday Sunday was very blowy, wet and miserable. I was very naughty I had a lie in till 10 o'clock Sunday which isn't at all like me! I'm back on track with my sleeping pattern, no more late nights you'll be pleased to know and thank you all very much for your concern.

I must say how I enjoyed Cindy's My Romantic Home 'Show and Tell' on Friday. It always amazes me to see the most beautiful things which are showcased. It really is good fun and I would encourage anyone to have a go.

I would also like to thank 'Yarns from a Barnyard in France' for inviting me to join their Charity Knitting and Crocheting! It wouldn't be the Knitting I would be interested in but of course the Crocheting! Helping the needy would be a very good idea and I'm sure many more people would be welcome. I would be interested in making blankets as I'm pretty quick as you know doing ripples now! I have been thinking for a while about Crocheting for the Elderly and I have already made enquiries with Operation Elderly Charity Stitchers here in the U.K. My Grandmother passed away back in 1995 shortly after my Father and I loved her dearly. She was the most remarkable woman. She lived to the fine age of 103, and was very fortuntate that she could live and look after herself in her own home until the day she died. I remember the day she received the telegram off the Queen to congratulate her on her 100th birthday. It was a lovely day and she even made the front page of the news. She also had a personalised birthday greeting off her favourite football club Aston Villa and all the footballers signed it for her. I miss her such a lot.

We also lost my Husband's mother last year and I think it's for these reasons that I am drawn to helping the Elderly. I have never before done any Charity Crocheting but I think in the New Year I will be definitely starting.

I would like to welcome my new followers, glad to meet you all hope you'll enjoy my blog.

I've had some new Birdies fly over to 'Two Times' during the last couple of days. They desperately needed somewhere to land and seem to have made a home in my Bird Cage. I don't mind at all in fact I am pretty pleased! Let's hope they stay awhile and don't fly off.

'SHOW AND TELL FRIDAY' - 'Yarn Basket Rescue!'

Hi Everyone! Welcome to Thursday's post!

and I may add Friday's SHOW AND TELL. CINDY IS HOSTING FROM ROMANTIC HOME.
I have worked so hard on Thursday's post that I want to extend it to Friday's. Or else it will be shoved into the back ground and never to be seen again!


I'm excited today.......

Well now 'Rainbow Birdie' has flown from his nest for a wee while. I wondered what I could do next? We all have lots of projects in mind. I walked into the Conservatory and started sorting my wool box out.



I had lots of wool left over from two throws I had made for the Conservatory. All I needed was 'Mr. Hooky' and something sitting over there in the corner. Here sits my 'Barnyard Friends' have you come across them before in my Flickr stream? It's not them I'm after, but something they are sitting in. My Daughters each had a Cookery Basket for school. One of them was used to home these adorable farm animals.



Okay, I'm ready. I walked into the Lounge yesterday afternoon and sat by the fireside.

Off we go........ First of all I crocheted a long rectangle of ripple. 18 rows in all. Then I double crocheted around the ripple edging. Sewed the sides up with a darning needle. So I had a tubey.



Then an oval of trebles to fit the base of the basket.



I first of all put the body of the basket over the handle and then sewed the base on to it.



Then threaded a chain of crochet through one of the rows of ripple and made a bow.



Looking good...... But something missing here. I know a crocheted handle. Just four rows of trebles, fitted over the handle and sewn together. Bit difficult, but well worth the struggle.



Then I thought of adding a little pink crocheted flower and sewed on the front. How's that looking now?



Yes, I'm pleased. Oh dear, once again Mrs Twins didn't get much sleep. 3.00 am this morning I was trying to load up. My iphone was taking the 'mick' so I went to bed. This morning when I got up came downstairs to my lap top and I was so excited because you very kind Flickr ladies had already started commenting! Before I had even seen them myself. So thanks everyone.

Of course I did take some photos of the basket sitting on my ripple in the Kitchen. So pretty! Amazing what you can do with odd balls of wool.

My Husband remarked how nice it was. I said becareful, if you stand too near 'I'll crochet you!'. He laughed!!

After I had finished my work this morning I ventured out into the Garden. Next doors door was open, so I waited awhile. If they see me again this morning they will be ringing up the 'white coat' people!





Trouble is now, where shall I keep the 'Barnyard Friends?'.

Hi and Welcome to Tuesdays post!

I don't know what's the matter with me lately. I did it again last night. Stayed up until the early silly hours. Another 3 am job. It's nice to sit down after cooking dinner and have a bit of time to crochet, but the trouble is I'm getting into a silly routine of staying up until the early hours.

I couldn't resist trying to make a birdie with this most beautiful wool and once I had started I couldn't stop.

I'm calling it 'Rainbow Birdie'. Of course this started from Lucy's blog and it's nice to see everyone putting their own ideas in their photostreams. Well this is my take on it.

Once again around 8.30 am this morning I popped outside and took some photos hanging from the trees outside.



He liked hanging in the Conifer tree.......



And also the Callicarpa!

Why not have a go! Let's see what everyone comes up with.

Sweet Candy!

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all had a good weekend! Ours was spent in Car Showrooms! (Long Story won't go there!). Not much time for play this weekend because my Husband had to work Sunday morning would you believe! One of those weekends when you seem to be forever chasing your tails around. You know what I mean not getting anywhere.

BUT last night I did finally manage to finish my Rippled Cushion for Little Miss. Twin. Karin was asking 'Did I sleep last night? Well I'm afraid I got carried away again! I was up until 3.00am! You can't help it can you. I was watching the Sunday evening drama and before I knew it my husband was off to bed and I was left on my own downstairs. I do hate it when he goes to bed before me!.



Anyway the Cushion got finished! Photo time!

I would just like to say that something has happened to Sunday's post. Something to do with HTML's. It just won't get out of 'draft' mode.

So I'll tell you once again that I used two shades of pink to make the Ripple Blanket and then added white.100% Acrylic. I reckon the blanket cost around £9.00 to make. For the cushion I doubled the wool and used about 2 1/2 100 gm balls of pink wool. The Ripple blanket took me around 22 hours to make. I finished the Ripple with a couple of rows of double crochet. I think I only like to put a narrow edging as I don't want to loose the ripple shape.

Up again at 7.00 am and after seeing my family off I did my housework and then to my 'play-time'. Off into the Garden I went armed with new found Ripple and Cushion, Carnations, Crocheted Flower Cushions and of course i phone to take shots. Looking out for the usual neighbours on the way! Don't you just love to take 'new project' photos! Don't we get excited....Shows how sad I am.....

It's taken me all day to load these photos on. My iphone was playing up 'as usual'. I love the phone but I keep losing that damm signal. Won't have O2 again!

So folks a-lot-of Sweet Candy today! Now I'm free to tackle what's next! Kitchen cupboards first I think........

Hope you all had a good weekend and Monday which is now nearly over. It's 5pm and because of the clocks going backwards an hour this weekend it is dark already..... Time to think of cooking dinner for my Daughter ,Hubby away this evening. Oh! I've just thought 'free time!' - hooray!!
