Pretty Knitted Butterflies and a Christmas Blanket.

Good afternoon and welcome!

I would like to thank Liz this afternoon for her 'Christmas Blanket' I have just found it in my porch. It's' so bright and cheerful and just look at the cute Butterflies Liz has Knitted. They really are very un-usual. Little spots on them and I love the antennae.

Liz Dove thank you for the Knitted Butterflies.

The Blanket is a perfect size for someone's lap and I'm sure they are going to love it.

What a good way to use up that un-wanted yarn and in the traditional Granny Square way too. I just love it thanks so much Liz. I have found some pink Ribbon which I think finishes it off so well. I shall be sure to take this one too to 'Olivet' Care Home on the 28th November. So that's 32 to take now.  We are getting quite a collection already of Blankets and I know for a fact that they are going to be useful to the Home.  If you read my previous post I am going on the 28th November to deliver Sunshine Blankets and half of the Knitted items we have made. Jane has invited me to their 'Knit Activity Group' where they are serving  'Bailey's coffee and chocolates'. How could I refuse?

Thanks so much Liz, let's take a look  now at your Blanket.

Superb!

Christmas Gift appeal.

Good Morning,

Thanks to everyone for making Christmas Gifts for Residents in Care Homes. We've had quite a good variety of Knitted items arrive and I'm sure they will be very useful.

I'm just popping in to remind you that all Knitted items must arrive by the end of November so that I can deliver them in the first/second week of December. I wonder if you could email me please if your Knitted items are going to be in the post this week or next. That's so I have an idea of what else is coming in.

My email address is sueatpigsty@talktalk.net

My plan is to deliver 31 Sunshine Blankets to Olivet Care Home on the 28th November along with half of the Knitted items.  I contacted them yesterday to see if they wanted more Blankets.

Jane said, "The blankets that we recently donated have been extremely popular and have been allocated to residents in their rooms as they are all so beautiful. They have also kept some for when they go out on trips in the minibus to help keep the residents warm."

They have 75 Residents in total so I’m really happy to be able to give them some more. They also have a new Home in Coventry opening so they would like to pass some on to them too.  Then the rest of the Knitted items will be delivered with the box of Shawls I have here to a second Home. I thought I would give to two Homes so that they have a good selection each.

It's so nice to know that our Blankets are making a difference to Residents and I do hope everyone will support the 'SIBOL' project next year.  Our closing date for this year for all items Sunshine Blankets, Shawls and Christmas Gifts is end of November.
Before I go I would like to show you a photo of what we've received so far. Please note that the 'Christmas Gift' idea is just for Christmas and will not be running throughout the year.

I would like to thank everyone for their support this year. You've all been fantastic!

We have now reached our 900th Sunshine Blankets, thanks everyone!

Good evening,

I'm sure you will be very pleased to know that we have now reached our 900th Sunshine Blanket. We have actually totalled 908. I can't thank everyone enough for their support over the years. What an achievement! We've certainly sent plenty of Sunshine into the lives of the Elderly in Care Homes throughout the country.

Our deadline is end of November for Sunshine Blankets, Shawls and Christmas Gift items but we will be still running next year. Let's see if we can total 1,000!

I have had a Letter of Thanks from Kingsleigh House. I recently delivered 31 of our beautiful Sunshine Blankets. I thought you might like to read.

Grannies arrive at HQ!

Good evening,

I've had 9 beautiful Sunshine Blankets arrive today from the AXA Purls Knitting Group. 'modelwidow' on RAVELRY organised the delivery for me. I would like to thank everyone
in the Group for the superb Blankets once again. They really are a joy to receive. All made in
ideal sizes they really are so colourful. I hope they inspire you to pick up your own Crocheting
hooks and make one too.

My deadline now for this year is the end of November, so please do not send any item after this date.
I intend to visit the Care Homes with Shawls and Christmas Gifts the start of December but I think I
may have to go out earlier than that hopefully this week to deliver Sunshine Blankets as they are adding up again. I think I have about 30 upstairs. I'll have to see if I can find time.

Let's take a look now at the Sunshine Blankets received from AXA Purls.

Thanks so much 'modelwidow' for sending them to me too!

Please thank everyone!

Parcels arrive from the States and Sweden thank you!

Good Morning,

I am so pleased the idea of making Christmas Gifts for the Elderly took off this year. We have had such a lot of response from everyone and we have received some beautiful Knitted and Crocheted items arrive at my home.  The Gifts are mainly arriving from Ladies in the UK but yesterday I received a parcel all the way from Florida, USA. Two sisters Dawn and April have very kindly contributed a few items for Residents in our Care Homes. Their work is fantastic. I have taken a few photos this morning but the weather is absolutely awlful here it's dark, wet and rainy I do hope you can see the beauty of them.

We have another Shawl! Fantastic. We certainly are getting some lovely ones arrive. Isn't it amazing how they are all so different? This one is so....warm and I've added one of the Butterflies sent too which I think finishes it off nicely.

Fingerless Gloves and Scarves will make great presents too!

All in ideal colours. Next we have some Bed Socks these will keep two Residents warm.

Crocheted Butterflies were also included in the parcel from the States.

Not to mention the two reels of Ribbon which will be terribly useful to our 'SIBOL' project.
Thank you for enclosing them Dawn and April.

Well what a super parcel! How kind of you both to send them for Residents here in the UK! Thank you both so....much.  I will definitely be taking them out at the beginning of December and I'm sure they are going to be accepted really well.

I would also like to thank Elisabeth  for the parcel received this morning all the way from Sweden! We have some lovely Crocheted Squares. It's very nice of you to send them all this way. I am very sorry I am unable to thank you by email because I 'can't find your email address!' I'm hoping you will see this Blog Post so you will know that they have arrived safely.  Thanks so much for your kindness.

Thanks for popping in today!

I would like to thank 'Staceystoke' on RAVELRY for a gorgeous Granny Shawl  and Blanket. The Blanket has been made by Jane who sent it to her earlier in the year and Staceystoke has finished if off for us. It's gorgeous and it's a lovely size for a Resident and will be very useful. The Shawl is lovely too and I love the edging. It certainly will keep the chills off someone thank you so much.

I have been sorting out the Sunshine Blankets, Shawls and Christmas Gift items that I have received from you. We certainly have had a fantastic response and I have felt that I needed to deliver some of the Shawls. I'm running out of room upstairs.

So I contacted St. Michael's Home for the Elderly in Olton over the weekend and they were very happy to receive Shawls from us. They would like to wrap them up and put them under the Christmas tree for Christmas Day.  So yesterday I took some photos of the Shawls I was taking.

St. Michael's Home for the Elderly. Delivery 21 Shawls.

Michelle at St. Michaels' Home loved the Shawls and she would like to thank everyone for their kindness. I'm sure the Residents are going to love these on Christmas Day.

I have another box full of Shawls which I will be delivering at the end of November.
Thanks to you all.
