Here are the blankets now and let's see if you can spot the Butterfly and Scottie Dog so lovely!

Colourful Granny Blankets

Good Afternoon,

I had a parcel arrive this morning from Sally here in the UK. She has very kindly made two blankets and sent them to me for the Elderly. They are superb! Made with colourful Granny Squares these I know will be very well received.  They really are very pretty indeed.

They both have wonderful borders to compliment them and what a good way of using up unwanted yarn too!

Let's take a look at them now.

Think Pink Blankets

Good evening and welcome to 'Mrs Twins',

As you know our 'SIBOL' Group has so far made 7 beautiful 'Think Pink' Blankets. The Squares in these Blankets come from 'SIBOLETTES' here in the UK and abroad. We have already been successful in raising £300.00 from the Sale of two of these Blankets which has been sent off to Breast Cancer Care here in the UK.

I thought it would be nice to try other ways apart from EBAY to raise funds and Joanna over on RAVELRY very kindly gave me details of 'Pink on The Tyne' to contact. Please follow the Link.

I have today contacted Tina and have asked whether she would like two of our Blankets for Fund Raising. I'm very happy to be telling you that she loved the photos of the Blankets I sent to her and can definitely find a good use for them. They do have an event on Friday so I have parcelled them up very quickly and managed to get them in the post to her. I have sent them 'Special Delivery' so they should be with her tomorrow.

Our Blankets are beautiful as you know, they are so unique because each one is so different and it's absolutely amazing that we can achieve the making of these Blankets when a lot of the Ladies live hundreds of miles away from each other. So I have sent Think Pinks 3 and 4. As you know 3 was assembled by Fiona in the Netherlands and 4 by Tinka in Belgium.

Think Pink 3.

'Think Pink' (3) Assembled by Fiona.

Think Pink 4.

Think Pink (4) Assembled by ATheeC.

I'm delighted that we can help them. I have been promised some photos and Tina has also said she will let us know how much they raise.

Just to let you know what Tina said.....

"I’m in awe that such things can be created. We’ll definitely sort some photos out for you.
We do various things such as dances, afternoon teas, coffee mornings, pink curry nights, Zumbathons, shopping centre collections and a large presence at Great North Run and this year for the first time Great North Swim. We are on Facebook and you can follow us on Twitter @PinkontheTyne.
Thank you very much Sue, very much appreciated.~"

I do have other 'Think Pink'  Blankets here to be purchased if anyone is interested. Please email me sueatpigsty@talktalk.net  All proceeds to be sent to Breast Cancer Care here in the UK.

Thank you all

Good afternoon and welcome!

391 '8/9' Marie Curie Cancer Care Challenge.

I have had an exciting day today receiving two gorgeous blankets. One from Kianie which is on the post below so please scroll down and the other has been made up by Joannna.

Joanna very kindly offered to make up 25 Daffodil Squares for me. This is the 8th Daffodil Blanket that we have managed to make up so far. We only have one more to finish and then I can send them off to Marie Curie Cancer Care Hospices up and down the Country.

The Squares in this blanket once again are so pretty. We have Knitted and Crocheted ones and they are all superb.

Thanks to everyone who contributed Squares for this Challenge.

Joanna has used cream yarn to assemble the Squares and I think this makes them really stand out.
I have had fun taking some photos this afternoon, so please have a look at our Slide Show now.

POST OFFICE CHARGES.

I don’t know if you are all aware that postal charges have gone up quite drastically.
Parcels are now priced by size instead of weight. Before a parcel weighing up to 750 grms was £2.20 second class standard rate.

This is how they are charged now.

Small parcels can measure up to 45cm lenght x 35cm width and 8cm depth. 2kg weight limit.

Medium 61cm length x 46cm width 46cm depth 20kg weight limit.

Standard rate price:- Small £2.60 up to 1 kg. £5.60 up to 2kg
                         Medium £5.20 up to 1kg £8.00 up to 2kg
This is second class price. 1st class is a bit more.
If when you pack your parcels they are more than the 8cm depth they will charge you for a medium parcel even if the width and length are ‘small’ size so beware and get your tape measure out!!

Of course parcels to go can give you very competitive prices.
Here's the link,
thanks everyone!

Thank you so much for visiting today, and please scroll down to see

'Flowers at Midnight'.

Hi everyone!

Join 'SIBOL!' over on RAVELRY.

390 Kianie 'Flowers at Midnight'. Thank you!

How exciting to receive Kianie's blanket today. She has very kindly made and donated 'Flowers at Midnight'. What a great name for this beautiful blanket. I love the centres of these Squares and the Blue yarn is a fantastic choice for the background.

I had no idea that Kianie was sending a blanket today and  it took me completely by surprise once again. Our blankets are adding up once again and we are soon approaching 400!

This blanket will give a great deal of comfort to an elderly person and I'm sure they are going to admire the cute Flowers, probably reminding them of their own gardens.

I love it Kianie thank you so much. How kind of you to sit down and make it.

Let's take a look at it now!

Kianie made and donated 'Flowers at Midnight' how beautiful thank you!

As you can see from the photos Kianie also made Butterflies and decorated the blanket too! How thoughtful.  It looks so pretty!

'Lavender & Lace'

Hello everyone!

Thank you for visiting today!

I am very pleased to be showing you a superb Blanket which has arrived from Jayne who lives in Bournemouth. Bournemouth is right down on the south cost of the UK and when the sun is shining a beautiful part of the country.  This was one of our holiday destinations when my twin daughters were little.

Jayne has very kindly made and donated a Granny Square Blanket to the 'SIBOL' project and I'm absolutely over the moon. It has been made so nicely and in such great colour combinations. I just love
the centres in the Squares. Her Husband has very kindly chosen the name 'Lavender & Lace' which is perfect.

Jayne also sent me in some Butterflies for our stash and they will be so useful. I warn you these Butterflies are so....addictive! Would you like to try making them? Here's the link over to Netties Blog in Australia.

I'm sure you are longing to see the Blanket Jayne sent in. Here it is.

This really is a pretty Blanket. I love these colours. How kind thank you!

Another Blanket for the Elderly in Care Homes, I am very grateful to you Jayne. Thank you!

Butterflies and Daffodils!

Hi everyone!

Today I received a parcel from joyce28. She very kindly sent me a parcel through 'Collect+' here in the UK.  On Tuesday  at 2.09 pm she mailed me to say she had organised a delivery and yesterday I received a mail from them to say it was waiting for collection. Now considering this was suppose to be a 3 to 5 day delivery I was surprised yesterday at 8.00pm to find out that the parcel was waiting for collection at my local convenience store. What  a brilliant service! So today I went and picked up the parcel.

The box was full of SIBOL Goodies, two Blankets and some Squares. I've had such fun this afternoon finding Ribbons and Butterflies for them.

Let's take a look at the Squares first. These were made by joyce28 for our current Challenges. Here's the Link. if you want to have a go yourself.

What wonderful ideas! We have two Squares for our Butterfly Challenge, Mr. Onion  (Making himself Cry!) 'Fruit &  Veg' Challenge, 'Leaves' Challenge, 'Transport' Challenge, 'Wonderful World' Challenge, 'Underwater' Challenge and 'Wartime'Challenge.

Not only did joyce28 make Butterfly Squares for one of our Challenges, she also made a Butterfly Blanket for our Elderly. She actually took the idea  from a book she won on one of our 'SIBOL' Giveaways!  Over on RAVELRY she wrote this for us.

...Mrs Twins offered some books through a raffle to SIBOL members - books that were a prize when SIBOL was chosen as club of the month by Knit Today magazine.  Some of you may remember.

I was lucky enough to win The Knitted Home

In the book there is a pattern that instantly went onto my "to do" list knowing it was **perfect** for SIBOL.

I hadn't got round to doing anything with it, but then Mrs Twins announced the 2013 challenges.  And my "to do" someday became a "must do" now (at least meet the particular challenge deadline).

Well joyce28 I am so pleased you did use the pattern. You have put together a most beautiful Blanket and I am extremely grateful to you. Combining Knitting with Crocheting joyce28 this really is a wonderful Blanket. How kind of you to go to so much trouble making it. I know that this will be accepted so....well by an Elderly person in a Home. It is such an interesting Blanket and I love the colours you have used.

Let's take a look now a really pretty Blanket. Thank you very much indeed!

joyce18 has made and donated 'Butterfly Garden' a combination of Crochet and Knit. Thank you!

We are donating 9 Blankets to the 9 Marie Curie Hospices up and down the UK. The Daffodil Squares have all been so beautiful and I would like to thank 'SIBOLETTE's' for giving me a hand making them up.

Let's take a look now.

Thanks to everyone who contributed Squares for this Blanket. Thank you!

Hi everyone!

I don't know about you but where I'm living here in Birmingham, UK it's bitterly cold. It just doesn't seem to be warming up and I'm fed up with seeing snow lying about outside my home.  I've even thought of pouring boiling water over it! I thought it was time to bring some sunshine into our lives so I've been digging out some 'Sun' themed Blankets hoping that the bright warm colours will make us feel better.
